opening tips for you and your family

GO3 is a great everyday way to help your body get the essential nutrients it needs - whilst still feeding your family the food they love. Try some of these other healthier eating ideas too - and don't forget to drink lots of water!
- Food is Fun... Enjoy your food. Sharing a meal with family and friends at home or at school is a great way to enjoy food. If you don't do this very often, why not find time next week to eat with the whole family at least 3 times.
- Snack attack! Especially if you are physically active, eat regularly and choose a variety of snacks. You may prefer a sandwich, some fresh or dried fruits, or perhaps sticks of vegetables like carrots and celery. Remember it is always good to include a variety of different types to keep things in balance.
- Breakfast is a very important meal. Our bodies always need energy, and after a night's sleep, energy levels are low. So, whether you are off to school, or out and about at the weekend, start the day with breakfast. Try cereal with low fat milk, fruit or yoghurt, toast or bread.
- Quench that thirst! We should all drink plenty of liquids - about 6 to 8 glasses a day. Plain tap water is great of course, but bottled water, fruit juices, tea, soft drinks, milk and so on, can all be okay too.
- Try to cut down the salt. Do you need extra salt on your dinner? (Most of us already eat too much of it without realizing).
- Give me 5! Try to get your 5 a day. For example, a glass of fruit juice at breakfast, perhaps an apple and banana as snacks and two vegetables at meal times, then you have already reached your total.
- Adding a side salad or mixed vegetable with your meals helps you on your way to 5 day. Kids, check out your lunch box or dinner plate. How many different kinds of fruit and vegetables can you spot?
- Quick fruit fix: whizz up a few handfuls of fresh or frozen fruit for a yummy and nutritious homemade smoothie.
